Freedom

A motion portrait of Santorini

  • Details

I have always wanted to film beautiful Santorini. In this film, I tried to show that despite all the modern day craziness in this world, there are still corners of this globe one can run to, to forget about 'things'.

Each cliff-side town dotted throughout the island faces the sun at a different angle, this meant that the rising sun would sweep through some towns faster then others, something that required observation when calculating the time-lapses within.

This film has been embedded on several hundred websites and has since gone on to become the un-official short film of Santorini. Between Vimeo, Youtube and a couple of other streaming sites, this has been viewed by 5m + viewers.

Special thanks to Tamas & Angela Uhelszki for helping out in this shoot. Also thanks to Brisbane boys Darren Hayes & Daniel Jones of Savage Garden for the soundtrack.

Created in 2011, Freedom is one of our very first short films.
